How to replace an Oven Door Catch or Striker Pin
Have you tried to shut your oven door only to find it keeps coming back open. If this is happening to you, then the door catch or the striker pin is likely to be the problem. Below is the steps needed to replace an Oven Door Catch or Striker Pin on a typical machine.
Step 1 - Disconnect The Appliance
Safety first, always ensure that your appliance is isolated from the mains before carrying out any repairs.
Step 2 - Remove The Side Panel And Door Catch
To gain access to the door catch you need to remove the side panel. This is done by unscrewing the screws at the front and back. The door catch should now be visible and it can be easily removed by unscrewing the two screws holing it in place.
Step 3 - Fit The New Door Catch
Fit the new door catch making sure the holes line up for the screws. On some catches the screws will cut their own threads. Open and close the door to check it shuts correctly. On some oven doors the door catch or striker pin is adjustable so make sure it lines up with the door catch correctly and if not adjust the height. Change the striker pin if needed.
Step 4 - Put The Side Panel Back Into Place
Now that your oven door shuts properly, the side panel can be screwed back in place and the cooker reconnected.
