Tips & Advice

How and when to change a washing machine belt. Belts are often wrongly diagnosed as being faulty but they often outlive the machine. Other faults are often the cause of a drum not turning including worn motor brushes, a faulty pulley or the drum bearings worn causing the belt to come off because its running out of line. Another reason for people thinking that the belt is at fault is due to newer machines having an "Out of balance protection systems" and wash loads being uneven due to large or very small washing loads, which can make this operate so the spin cycle is aborted.

We often have customers come into our shop for advice on how to rid their washing machines of nasty smells. Here are some tips to prevent odours and stop bacteria build-up in your washing machine.

There is a solution. Being energy conscious and watching the pennies we mainly use a 40 degree wash. Some machines can do a wash as low as 20 degrees. This being the case, the bacteria is not being killed and so multiplies and gives off a nasty smell. Some customers have even renewed their washing machine because of this problem.
